KFMB: 760 kHz, 5 kW ND-D, 50 kW DA-N, with a very simple pattern protecting
only WJR (was 5 kW DA-N and two towers before "Rio").
A consequence of a mid-1950s forced move off of 540, so that Mexico could get
an additional Class I-A, in accordance with the U.S.-Mexican Standard
Broadcast Agreement, sort of a "side letter" to 1938/1941's NARBA.
Note the spacing and height of two of the three towers: consistent with
spacing and height for stations on 540.
The limiting factor for 50 kW days is the 740 in Avalon, which should have
been moved to 830, but wasn't.
Oh, one of the three is one of the examples cited which is separated by a
highway.
The present KFNS is the former WRTH, Wood River, IL (suburban St. Louis, MO).
It is now 1 kW, DA-2, with 4 towers days and three towers nights, but was
originally 0.5 kW days and 1 kW nights, DA-2, probably with three towers during
each of those modes.
And, who can forget WNTD, 1 kw ND-D, 5 kW DA-N with six towers. A former
daytimer, with its day site still located on a downtown rooftop.
