That sure fires some of the ol' neurons...

I remember making my own "speakers' also, using a simple rolled cone of paper 
with some wire wound around the small end and held over or near a magnet. I 
also made similar paper cones and used a straight pin to play records "the old 
fashioned way". <g>

I never thought of stratching paper over the end of an open box, though. 
You're right about those old cigar boxes. Useful items they were. Perhaps some 
plastics manufacturer could make something akin to them, specifically as project 
boxes.
