[BC] FW: [Tech-Assist] Harris SX-1 Spur Problem

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that brass screws are the fastener
of choice for AM transmitters on medium wave, but that brass will burn up if
used as fasteners in an FM plant at VHF frequencies. What's the metallurgy
behind this, or is this an urban legend?

Loose hardware. There was a SX5 here which did this at 80 Khz and it
turned out to be loose hardware. It took a LONG time to find the problem
hardware. But it was found and once tightened, the problem went away. I
also seem to recall that brass is used extensively because brass is less
reactive to the RF. If there is any odd hardware in place of OEM brass or
bronze, change it back to the original hardware.
