A friend of mine "programming" a major market station is known for 
not rocking boats. He was recently fired. He was one of the few 
people who clearly understood he had no power and knew how to deal 
with it without driving himself nuts. Didn't work. Now there's sort 
of an "office" of the Program Director. Three or four people 
unwilling to take the blame for the inevitable mistakes.
