I have a Brother MFC-7420 all-in-one with a monochrome laser engine in my
home office. It happens to have fax machine function, but it is also a
fairly competent (and fast) copier with document feeder. It's not intended
for heavy duty use, but the price is right (I got mine for $250 at Staples
after a $50 rebate). The first one was defective (there was a bad pixel in
the document feed scanner), but Staples exchanged it with no questions asked.

The 7420 uses USB, but there is a slightly more expensive model with Ethernet.
