It's very much the point, Larry. You can play open source music if you want,
and you'd attract an audience commensurate with that music's quality,
exposure and media support. When Kanye West plays his music on Saturday
Night Live or goes on the cover of Rolling Stone, that attracts an audience
to your station if you play his music. Not very many independent bands,
without actuakky becoming part of the system you eschew, will get that kind
of side support.
It's all balance. The good stuff costs money. The free stuff is catch as
catch can.
