Why buy/use "8k telco lines" for Part 15 AM systems?  At the carrier freq, 
the impedance bandwidths of legal Part 15 AM antennas are barely 4 kHz wide 
at the -3 dB points (if that), due to their very high "Q."

An 8 kHz program feed to such is wasting most of that audio bandwidth.
