[BC] IBOC Query

I have been thinking about digital radio in terms of energy cost. We have
sites running 10 KW transmitters with power costs of 13 cents per kilowatt
hour. I honestly believe that "The Party is Over" in terms of cheap energy.
We ain't seen nothing yet as we slide down the slope of the end of the
liquid and fossil fuel age. That may be a driving point for conversion not
too far in the future.

Rich, I agree with you completely. I just cannot imagine everyone going out
and dumping working radios. The recent price drop of the BA unit
notwithstanding... $300 is still a *lot* to pay for a table radio with
minimal benefit to
the average listener.
The way it seems to me, is that HD2 is just a high-fidelity SCA service. It
may have some value in that respect- leasing-out the HD2 "SCA" to another
program provider, perhaps ethnic programming/music or whatever. You still
have to
consider the cost of the receivers, tho... and the fee$ to IBORG.
