In the 1970's? 'Consistency' was one reason. Other electrical
measurements
were named for researchers. Another - prophetic in light of our era of
perpetual victims - poor Hertz was slighted while Volta, Ampere, Joule,
and Farad,
etc. were credited for their 'inventions'.

Isn't it enjoyable to see 'kcs' on the dial or slide rule of an older
receiver? Bespeaks of a time when plain speaking wasn't illegal.
