[BC] COMMENTS NEEDED ON THE POWER-SIDE OR THE CAM-D SYSTEMS

Boyd..

I know the PowerSide is in use at the 680-690 station south of Detroit, and successfully.

I do not believe it is designed to make the station broadcast more carrier power, but to reduce the power needs while maintaining good quality.

You could I think refer to Wayne Reese or Ed Trombly at Munn-Reese Associates in Coldwater, Michigan at (517)278-7339 for more details of the operation.

I only helped in tuning the array a time or two. And did not find the audio any problem as to quality on the rental car radio.

I will say that the IBOC costs seem astronomical to a small market operator and will appear to put many mom-and-pop local service stations in rural Montana permanently off the air. To, of course, the benefit of the large radio conglomerates serving the large city areas.

As to CAM-D, never worked with it or investigated it.

I am sure the price is up on a very limited production unit, and would come down if it was not apparently fought so hard by those catering to the big stations only.

Why not contact Mr. Kahn directly, too, and get test specs he has measured, find out how he measures it, and ask why the price is so high? See why your testing seems different! And if you contact Harold Munn, Jr at EHMunn at Juno.com you can find out the rationale and and installation details, as he engineered the system.

  Good luck.
