[BC] COMMENTS NEEDED ON THE POWER-SIDE OR THE CAM-D SYSTEMS

Neither are good systems. Power side attempts to create a compatible single
sideband signal. One of the problem is that the compatibility terms leaves the
same bandwidth as regular DSB only displaced. The other problem is that the
phase shift networks cause severe problems with processed audio. The system is
hard to tune and in the end the audio is not as clean as with a regular DSB system.
Your observations are correct. Any power removed from one sideband is added to
the other.
As for CAM-D - little is known about the system as no information has been
released. I have heard a demo and it was not pretty. As far as I know, it is an
adaptation of the old AM stereo system with a digital augmentation presumably
for higher frequencies. It does not seem to carry augmented data nor offer other
features essential for a good digital system.
IMHO any system (that includes Ibiquity and anything analog) that attempts to
deliver 15 kilohertz audio and stereo on MW frequencies and remain compatible
with analog operation is just plain over reaching. This is not what the AM band
needs at this time.
