The distortion in a typical AM receiver that 10 watts of r.m.s. audio power 
would produce when applied as high-level modulation to a Class C r-f 
amplifier rated for 100 mW DC r-f input power (the Part 15 AM limit) is 
nothing very useful.

Better to operate with positive peak modulation levels that produce more 
intelligible audio at the receiver.
