Had this theory, once, in days of olde, when finding legal ways to
circumvent the intent of various rules seemed "worth" the challenge.
Built one, and it did work, but not for the broadcast band.
Theory was a "plate" modulated tetrode.
Screen supply was essentially rectified and filtered modulator output,
such that the screen voltage followed average mod fairly closely, with
a little bias adjusted for "legal" carrier power.
The thing would make 450 or 500 percent positive mod with little
noticable distortion.
Since carrier power was measured without modulation, it was pretty
low, since there was little screen bias, but what was the carrier
power really, when the screen voltage came up with mod ?
Truely, I don't know !
Built it. It worked. I was happy. Box got disassembled for other purposes.
Parts were scarce, and my allowance wasn't much back then.....
Ah, the good old days !
