Burt,
Actually, it was the recommendation that you posted here a couple of years
ago that prompted me to start looking for a 3586. And at a local hamfest a
few weeks later, I found a nice one for $200 -- it needed a little cleaning
up and minor power supply repair but has worked well. Thanks for the tip!
With an external frequency standard (I have a rubidium that was pulled from
a cell site) it does a super job with AM carrier measurements, not to
mention it's a great LF receiver. Two weeks from today, the Alexanderson
Alternator in Sweden (SAQ) is scheduled to run some tests on 17.2 kHz, so
I'm planning to put a tuned loop on the 3586C and see if I can copy anything
here.
