But I doubt this will happen anytime soon. iBiquity will likely take the
position that if their proprietary codec algorithm becomes too accessible,
some hacker will figure it out. (Never mind the fact that technology
continues to advance regardless of how closely iBiquity guards their
secret.) And, if web listeners are allowed to download a player at no
cost, then it will be more difficult to demand all of those licensing fees
from broadcasters and hardware manufacturers.
