I agree with your disagreement. With most listening done in high 
ambient noise conditions an unprocessed signal will disappear. Even 
most high quality Classical stations will process a little heavier 
during drive times. Listeners complain that the music disappears.

Multiband processing is great for making the wide variety of sources 
consistent. Equalization on the fly. Unfortunately, you can squash on 
the fly, too.
