Local Celebrities: WAS : [BC] TV weather

The story goes that in the early days of Huntley / Brinkley in color 
they used to stand the WNBW (or were they already WRC-TV?) weather 
girl Tippi Stringer in front of the Washington camera during setup. 
Huntley, in New York, of course saw Ms. Stringer on the monitor each 
evening before the show.  She eventually became Mrs. Huntley according 
to the story.

Those were the days when WNBW was still deep in the bowels of the 
Wardman Park Hotel, before NBC built its Washington building - which 
they still use.  The hotel has been completely rebuilt, has gone 
through a number of names, and is now the Marriott Wardman Park.  The 
Marriotts, being local folks, must have liked the Wardman name for old 
times' sake.  Wardman was the real estate developer of that 
neighborhood.
