Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't WNEW New York have a show with "Diver
Dan"..

I heard he was canned when, at the end of the show (and thought the Mic was
dead) said "That should keep the little bas***ds happy"...

The Minneapolis-St. Paul market was rich with local talent in the 60s. WCCO
had Axel's Treehouse and his sidekick Carmen the nurse. Axel was played by
Clellan Card. 'CCO also had Clancy the cop and his sidekick Willie Ketchum.
John Gallos played Clancy who also hosted Laurel and Hardy and Bowery Boys
movies on Sunday morning. KMSP had Grandpa Ken. WTCN (now KARE) had Popeye
and Pete which featured an on-camera audience of kids. They all got grab
bags of goodies including a single wrapped Hostess Twinkie. I always
wondered where they got those. Also on WTCN: Lunch with Casey featuring
Casey Jones (Roger Awsumb) and his sidekick Roundhouse Rodney (Lynn Dwyer)
who also played Grandma Lumpett on Grandma Lumpett's Boarding House. I grew
up with all these shows and can't help but think today's kids would be
better off with decent role models like these. You can see more at:
