Sid,
I've used AVG Anti-Virus for several years - and in my WinXP machines I
have Microsoft's firewall turned OFF. It's never tried to come back ON
on any of my XP machines.
I understand the *mostly* secure feeling that one has when behind a NAT
Router. I worry about other users opening e-mail attachments, however.
Such a Trojan Horse delivered virus could spread through mapped drive
shares, and perhaps by the LAN IP range - all behind one's NAT router.
So, I still use ZoneAlarm or Kerio on every PC on the network.
Am I wrong to worry about an internally-originated virus, and desiring
the protection of a software firewall?
Best,
