Fun with Google. From the website www.drakechenault.org re D/C -
..."In 1986, the company was sold to Wagontrain Enterprises...relocated to
Albuquerque (from Canoga Park) in 1987... In the mid-1980's, compact discs
and satellite-delivered formats were beginning to replace reels of tape...
D/C didn't join the trend... Instead, they added a satellite format division
by partnering with Jones Intercable... D/C delivered the formats, Jones
delivered the uplinks and sat time... D/C's reel programming clients began
to diminish, even after D/C purchased the tape clients of TM Programming...
eventually, all of the tape clients were purchased from D/C by Broadcast
Programming of Seattle... the sat programming clients were eventually
purchased by Jones... the original D/C pretty much disappeared."
Interesting site for those of us who grew up rockin' the reels. I stretched
& hid more than one reel of tape on a bad rewind/recue at my first radio job
in '77... had a live consult with D/C in the mid 80's... and still run Jones
on my FM now. Deja vu all over again...
