Here's an interesting development -- a combo Bluetooth/FM chip that
includes includes "all the FM features product designers would look
for in an advanced FM radio product, including high receiver
sensitivity, station information enhancements through intelligent
Radio Data Service (RDS) and Radio Broadcast Data Service (RBDS)
processing, and superior tuning and station search functions." The
manufactuer, Broadcom, projects that "332 million handsets will
include FM radio by 2009."

Between this and Apple's new iPod accessory, it appears the market
for analog FM radio is still healthy. The fact that it's an open
standard, in use worldwide, probably has something to do with this.
