Why would we want to eliminate discreet inputs and outputs, though? Each of 
the 7 in-use cards is dedicated to specific tasks, and wired to different I/o 
sources. The one that isn't being used is a "hot spare" so if we need to, we 
can patch it in just by swapping XLR's and changing "screens".
