That makes sense... I just think that because RJ45's are rather delicate,

The RJ45'a initially were scary for remote work. The AEQ Commentary system
uses them and they have been a problem. One of the main problems was about an
Amp of DC is on one the contacts. When plugged or unpluged under load there
is an amount of carbon arc. Also we used sheilded Cat 5 Cable which made it
stiffer than normal cables. The other thing we did at the Olympics was use a
few connectors in the line as possible. I believe if we had termined the Cat5
to a better jack under the commentary desk and used a flexible pigtail we would
have had fewer problems with connectors in the commentary positions. An of
course all the best checking out of the system always gets changed and
repositions when the talent arrives and then the problems start to show up.
With the Neutrik RJ in an XL Style that makes it much better with covers and
a strong strain relief.
Also the new type of plug that feeds the Cat5 conductors all the way thru the
connector before crimping will probably solve some problems. I have one of
those tools and it is much easier to pull the wires tight in the crimp than
push them.
These are going to be a standard audio connector so get used to it. The IBOC
HD equipment is loaded with them and may have several audios on one in a
digital form.
