[BC] Computer based audio

The least quality "Pro" card I like is the Lynx 1. XLR's in and out as
well as AES/EBU.

About $500 last time I bought one over a year ago. Good/excellent
drivers.
The other ones I like are the current Audio Science (got one through
DAD/Enco). As I recall it's a 6xxx series - 1 record 2 play. About
$1400.
Both of these provide good, consistent audio. I've also tried using some
current "Sound Blaster" brand cards for phone recorders, where the audio
requirements are less. One irritating aspect - no longer is there a mic
and line input - just one jack you select with the mixer. The adjustment
range seems limited, so one must use something in front of the card to
control the levels - the board out is too hot, etc. I had trouble getting
things "right" since I wanted to use left channel mics, right channel
callers. Finally added and adjustable 2 channel gadget from Stick-On. Set
the software sliders in the middle, set the board/ hybrid normal, and
tweaked the computer inputs "just right".
