The only way, that I am aware of to reduce noise floor is to (1) eliminate
all electrical devices; (2) turn off all stations but the one you want (3)
use lower noise devices with gain high enough to limit the mixer problems
and this could be over come by a direct down conversion device which are now
out there in some form, but it will still raise the intrinsic noise floor by
the value of the gain of the circuit although the gain of merit is increased
or (4) use a low noise preamp with cryogenic cooling to lower the noise of
the thermal devices in the system  (we use some of these at Sprint and they
are very expensive, made by STI )
