Here's one that no one has mentioned yet...how about the full version of
"Sky Pilot" by Eric Burdon & The Animals? or "Like A Rolling Stone" by
Bob Dylan? On the backtime side of things, "Tall Paul" by Annette was
another shortie (even shorter than Maurice Williams by about 7 seconds).
Remember when the extra cue tones came along for cart machines so you
could sequence them, add external warning lights, etc? Occasionally the
Prod Dir would forget to add the tone(s) suprising you at exactly the wrong
time. That happened to me at Cleveland's WIXY 1260. I was on air and had
set up the 4 ATC's for auto sequencing because I had to hit the head really
bad. Problem was the first cart (Melanie's "Lay Down Candles in The Rain")
didn't have the tones put on it. What a mad scramble to get back from the
bathroom which was down 2 hallways completely the other side of the studio.
Lucky I didn't kill myself trying to run & pull up trousers at the same time.....
