[BC] Timing out the sign off procedures.

When I was first in radio, I worked for an AM/FM operation that was
simulcast most of the time. The AM was daytime only. We did a live
newscast at sundown (national news). At the end of the newscast, we
would split the stations with a "split switch" on the board. At that
point, every switch flipped toward the left was on FM and every
switch flipped to the right was on AM. We would then flip the
microphone to AM and read the sign off, followed by "Evening Prayer"
by Jim Reeves, then we would turn off the AM plates. If AM sign-off
happened to be at a half-hour point, we would then run back into the
control room, where a record would be ending, play a news intro cart,
then do the local news. Yes, it had to time out right.
How many of you could get a teenager to do that today?
