When I worked at WDRC in Hartford, we had an 8 second "off the air" alarm.
The mid-morning guy (who still is, God bless 'im!), Larry Wells, whenever he played
the *cart* of Monday, Monday by The Mommas and the Papas would pause the cart during the
break that occurs just before the last refrain long enough to trip the alarm. This would usually cause me to come
running down the hall (from unplugging the toilet, changing light bulbs or whatever high level engineering task I was
engaged in at the moment). The studio looked down the hall to the reception area, so as I breathlessly approached
that area I would first hear the familiar vocals of John Philips and then look thru the glass to see Larry doubled over.
It was a Pavlovian thing that occured over, and over, and over.... a evil use of the "live edit".

To this day, whenever I hear a loud 2 kHz tone, I have an irresistable urge to patch something.
