Why wouldn't you want the silence? It's a matter of pacing that's concordant to
the music. Has little to do with age.
We have a silence sensor, but only for long durations (several minutes)- which
only exists to tell me the overnight automation or studio has problems. It's a
different world from the 8 second dash!
And I've discovered why God has given us the little "stereo" indicators on our
car receivers!

Every classical station I have ever heard has dead air between songs. Why
do they need such huge gaps? Do old folks need to clear the last song outta
their head before the next one starts? Would that be like some sort of
audio whiplash if one song started too quickly after the last? That would
drive me insane being the engineer for a classical station. Do they even
have a silence sensor?
