[BC] Betcha never seen an arc in your transmitter like this before...

Anyone who's ever tuned a Harris FM20 series has seen arcs.. or
sometimes, just turning one on after it's been off a while.. you jump,
and turn it on again, or twice more, and it then (usually) plays nice. 

FM20, affectionately known as "The Flamethrower" of FM transmitters. 

(Thankfully, I don't have one in service - but I do have it's baby
brother, an FM5k).
