According to the FCC database, WKIP, WEEX and WOLF are still licensed
directional daytime .
WOLF has a CP to go non-DA, but I don't think they've filed a license to
cover. They needed to add the second tower to protect a low power 1490 in
Kingston, Ontario when their nominal daytime power was increased to 1 kW
back in the '60s. However, with this pattern, the array was a bit too
efficient to protect domestic facilities (the original tower was 1/2 wave
Lingo pole) so for many years, WOLF intentionally wasted a couple hundred
watts into a resistor until the FCC gave the OK to compensate by reducing
TPO.
Does anyone happen to know the closest spacing of a non-synchronous
co-channel pair of Class C stations? In southeast PA on 1340, WHAT and
WRAW are 70.16 km (43.59 mi) apart, and both are non-directional. Are there
any closer?
