Reminds me of the time when I was a KAMB in Merced, with the XMTR up in the Sierra foothills -- I was up there doing maintenance and got the transmitter back up and running, all was looking well.  I got in the car, was driving down the dirt road thru 2 miles of ranch land and turned on the radio.  I was hearing the Four Tops and Jan & Dean -- definitely NOT our format!  I turned around, went back to the site.  Everything was looking good, so I called the studio; no answer.  Then I got an ID from a station in Stockton.  I put 1 + 1 together ... there was a power outage at the studio.  Thus, the phone system and the STL were down.  Also, it was a chilly night and a temperature inversion layer was allowing the other station's STL to open the squelch.  So, I backed that down and went on back to the studio, a 35-mile, 50-minute drive.  By the time I got there the power had been restored.  Everything was working, except, we had a dead carrier.  I had to drive back up and crank the squelch back up.  That's not a fun way to spend the night...
