Any discussion of VOA has to be linked with the Powell Crosley and his WLWO
and WLWK demonstrations of the power of international broadcasting.  Joseph
Chambers along with others in the engineering department collaborated with
major broadcast manufacturers and the powers of the industry and powers of
congress to build this radio system starting in the late 1930's.  Jim
Hawkins web site will just touch the 'hem of the subject'; there are many
other web sites and sources of information that will play out the needs and
beginnings of this great system.

In fact there is a sense that station NAA helped to begin this great
organization by the transmission of Wilson's principles of world peace at
the end of the first world war.
