[BC] Honeywell strobe lighting problems

I've inherited a site with a Honeywell SG-60 high intensity strobe lighting
system on the tower.  This system has apparently been a major maintenance
problem since it was installed.  I found a box with many suspect parts--
circuit boards, bulging 50uf/2kV capacitors, burned resistor boards, etc.
Do any of you have any experience with this system?  Honeywell tech support
is happy to sell me lots of new parts, but a bit short on advice for
preventing failures in the future.  Some of this I'm sure is lightning
damage, but not all of it.  Any help is helpful.
