Paul Smith commented:
"The Tampa Bay Florida area where I'm at no longer has a station
that plays standards"

That would have been WGUL 860 licensed to Dunedin. No more standards
there--maybe still on the FM. WGUL and sister station WLSS 930 in
Sarasota were sold to Salem about a year ago. WGUL-FM was not part
of the deal. Salem now has a stable of low and mid-dial AMs in that
area. Besides 860 and 930, they have 570 in Pinellas Park and 910 in
Plant City. I'm not sure which format is on 860 but my guess is
Salem's ultra-right-wing talk. In the space of about two years,
Tampa Bay went from being a major market in which Salem was not
represented to one of the markets in which Salem owns a large number
of stations. The 570/910 pair were (and maybe still are) a
simulcast. The coverages are quite complementary--570 covers the
coast, including St Petersburg but protects 580 in Orlando, so is
gone east of Tampa. 910 covers inland. Anyone know whether Salem is
in Orlando yet? What about Jacksonville? Two big markets that seem
like a naturals for them
