Well all this talk about Tivo wireless adapters inspired me to do some research and according to Tivo- http://customersupport.tivo.com/knowbase/root/public/tv2184.htm? most units (including mine) will now work with 802.11g with latest software version 7.2.1 so this would seem to be the way to go.
