I pity the poor people who have to make the cold calls.

I usually just quietly hang up.  This allows them to go on to the next 
call and doesn't need to offend the minimum-wage droid.

But if I DO listen longer, I sometimes ask for details about who they 
represent. Then I point out that I'm going to report the call as a 
violation of the Do Not Call list and it can cost them Big Money. 
This has caused real sputtering from some locals who have been 
assigned to make cold calls for their real estate company, etc.

I have a personal Dun & Bradstreet number and IIRC this makes me open 
for cold "business" calls.  It's rather humorous when I get calls 
asking for the purchasing department,  manager, etc. You'd think I was 
a major corporation.  I no longer need the D&B number.  I wonder how 
one gets off their list.
