[BC] Shulke's Black Box

This reminds me of the following story. Years ago a CB'er friend of mine
asked me to install his new "amplifier" that he had purchased at a county
fair. I saw the usual input and output connectors. But there was no power
connector. I pointed that out to my friend. He said that was ok as it did
not need any power. The salesman had told him, "It unlocks the hidden
energy in radio waves".

Despite my telling him that there was no hidden energy he implored me to
install it as all his friends had them. So I did; a little ethical lapse
for a six pack of beer. He always told me afterwards that I should study up
on that hidden energy thing as he was really getting out. I did not have
the heart to tell him that it was a maximum of the eleven year sunspot
cycle.

Hey, maybe that was the hidden energy after all.

I suspect that you may be right. The AC cord was probably conected to a
neon pilot light and that was all. Anyone that finds one should take a
hammer and chisel to it and find out the truth. I will be waiting for the
expose' in Radio Guide.
