The Caribbean Beacon built by Bill Kitchen, then sold to Dr. Gene Scott ran
a 50 kw Nautel on 1610. That being said, seldom in the past few years do
they ever sound like they are running more than 5kw.
ZNS-1 at 1540 in Nassau, Bahamas has a 50kw Nautel. Of late they've been
non directional,
normally they have a two tower array heading south.
The old Radio Paradise on St. Kitts ran 50kw (or tried to) on 825khz, they
sold out to TBN which moved to 830 and simicasts the TV satellite programming.
Other than the old PJB, the Trans World Radio 500kw on Bonaire, the most
powerful Caribbean station was Radio Antilles 930 khz with 200kw on Montserrat.
They also had 20kw on 740. The volcano several years ago encased the
station and the rest of the capital city of Plymouth in lava. Radio Antilles ran a
parasitic reflector behind their driven element with a European box putting
capable of 125kw.
In the Turks and Caicos Islands, Radio Vision Christiana on South Caicos at
530 is running 50kw with a Nautel Ampfet 50.
CCR on Grand Turk has a GE 50kw .
The only high power on the expanded band is WDHP on 1620 on St. Croix in the
VI, they only run 10kw, I guess word never reached them that they are
supposed to drop power at night.
