Yep, you should have see the bifilar wound filament choke!  It was about an 
inch and a half square to carry the 12 volts at 220 amps of filament energy. 
The WAPE Transmitter used an unusual class A modulator with a pair of 
4-1000's in a low impedance configuration, modulating a 6079 with a DC 
filament for low noise and hum.

Ike passed away on June 27, 1981 the results of an automobile accident. He 
was only 46 years old. Ike was from Palatka originally. He and I worked 
together at WAPE for 10 years.
They called me Don when I was there.
