RUMOR HAS IT THAT IN EARLY DAYS OF KWKH THEIR GROUND SYSTEM CONSISTED OF HOLLOW COPPER PIPE WITH
HOLES IN IT AND SALT WATER PUMPED THRU THEM OCCASSIONALLY. DONT KNWO FOR SURE, BUT IN ITS HEYDAY
KWKH WAS A GIANT.

I was engineering many years ago at a major Shreveport TV station and had a friend who was an AM
engineer in the area tell me that he had heard that KWKH got into a little tiff with an FCC
inspector over running a sprinkler system over the radials so much that the ground had water
standing on it most of the time. I too heard about "Salting" but I heard it was that someone would
salt the wet ground. That too could have been rumor, but AM ws very competitive back then, and
KWKH was a real Icon in the area. KEEL (710) was very popular also and I would guess that everyone
was trying to get every "millivolt" they could. It is good to hear that KWKH is rebuilding. I hope
they do some good programming again.
