HEY ENGINEERS - IT'S BOTH.
I believe AM IBUZ will show that. I thought we'd all agreed that no
department is more important than any other. That's why I believe the
WGN/WGCI experiment is very important. Several Chicago area friends
tell me WGN is back to their good old audio quality, so the
experiment isn't valid until they turn it on again. Since there are
very, very few receivers there's really no reason to jeopardize the
signal until 3004 when there might be a few in the hands of listeners
rather than radio people. If IBUZ is fatiguing it'll be a very
subliminal reaction. Bad programming can trash ratings very quickly.
Bad technical quality causes slow deterioration through fatigue
unless the quality is so bad it's unlistenable.
I'm told by retailers here the receivers they've sold have gone to
radio stations. I think the count is 3, so far. A true revolution.
If you get a chance, listen to the (very expensive) Yamaha receiver.
With the same rat tail antenna as the BA it received everything in
the market deep within the building. It's amazing because receiver
sections of integrated audio components are, usually, terrible. No
song/artist data in this market, yet, on either the Yamaha or the BA.
