OK, I'll give you that. But why will one work and the other NOT work
with the exact same cable? That's the problem. Not blaming XP, but
this is the one not working. The working cable is approx 40 feet and
will not work on XP machine, but works on the NT box. The 50 foot cable
also works on the NT box, but not XP. The only difference, is they are
located in different racks.

Understood, but it's just too easy to blame XP for everything that's
wrong with computers today.
Let's say that the mouse SHOULD work with a 50 foot extension, +/- 10%.
Let's say one of your machines is +2% and the other -3%.........
