Don't get me wrong...I'm not faulting (the) Orban Optimod one bit.

If one would read the book, be it Orban, Omnia, & Inovonics, they tell
you that if your using a Plate (tube) Modulated Transmitter with their
processor, there are warnings about using excessive bass frequencies on
those boxes. PD and jocks at those R-n-B/Rap Stations won't read the
book and end up costing the station money when they blow the mod
transformer with their music.
If I was forced to use one of those RCA BTA-250M's with a hard
processor, I lock it up at the tx building and not allow no access to
PD's and jocks.

Yep.
The old 1060 here in Boston got one of the first AM Optimods. They
hooked it
up to their BC-1G and sounded loud and great - for about 48 hours.
Then the modulation xmfr went away...

Don't crank up the low end on those old boxes. I learned my lesson by
overheating and blowing a mod transformer because I cranked up the bass
to hard, in order to please the PD of a station I was doing contract
work for. The format of that station was R-n-B/Rap. Those old boxes hate
Rap music all together!

Ah, yes. There is that warning in the manual for the AM Optimods.
Those old boxes were not designed for 100% duty cycle at 150%
square wave. <ggg>
