We did the same thing at VOA / Bethany with one of Bob's HF Optimods.
Blew the mod transformer.  Pete Dahl (?) rebuilt it for us.  Probably
would still work if Washington hadn't junked the place.

Lots of older Gates BC-5P's  loss modulation transformers after the  
DAP-610's were installed.   The later BC5P-2's had oil filled mod
transformers.
