Remember those old GE external cavity klystron rigs?

Uhhhhhhh!

I've never missed them...

Alan, make sure that the old TT manual does not leave you, it could be as
early as a TT-5 or 6. Make sure the Book does not get away!

Alan, I need a picture and test sheet on the GL 5513 as I have a couple of
those out of an old TT-4.

I will scan it if you allow me too. Would take it apart and let either
Kinko's or myself do it and the return it.

What I would like to see is some of the older units.

One of their best transmitters, all tube was the TT-35. We used one with an
Amp that came from KSL and was sold by GE Broadcast to us close to the time
that they quit the business. Supposedly they tuned and checked it out on
channel seven. We found it tuned to channel 8 and had to sweep tune it in
the field. But it did make better color than the old Federal it replaced.
Worked good for about 10 or so years until cavity problems became very
common and parts were non-existent. A lot of air cooled transmitters in the
60's and 70's ran the 6166 which was a fine tube, bar none, very stable,
tolerant of faults and when the visual would no longer make peak power, you
just toss it into the aural transmitter. We could just tweak to make color,
as the modulated stage was very broad. Replaced all the rectifiers with
solid state when the filament transformers started to die.

Just a good rig!

Barry, I do have some GE pictures for your collection which I will mail to
you and hopefully have enough now to finish out the WE page.

Stan
