Thanks so much for words of support. Having run a BBS for years and being
involved in private email networks and public ones as well, I've seen it
all. I figured out a long time ago that being behind a keyboard seems to
endow people with superpowers they never thought they had. I enjoy exchange
of information but when it gets down to petty, short, seemingly snide
remarks that's when I draw the line in the sand. It seems there are those
who are laying for that one flaw in your post rather than the information
you're attempting to share. I will admit these feelings have been amplified
because of my recent illness. Yes, I'm alright and in good shape but another
scenario could have played out. It has further shown me there are more
important things in life. Yes, I would like to spend some time with people
in my chosen profession. I would like to share, as I have a few times,
"stuff" and ideas. I don't mind being corrected if my information is
incorrect. I'm the first one to say..."I stand corrected". Jerry, you're
right when you say "above all, have fun!". It's one of the reasons I got
into the business but I've made a promise to myself: "When it no longer is
fun, I'm outta here". This promise was made and directed more towards my
profession than towards a list but I see this as an extension of my
business. Also, one that can enhance my experience and my memories.
Rich, you're right. I shouldn't take it personally. At times, it's hard. I
hope you understand my position. I think those who have seen my posts will
admit they are rather benign and many of them come from my rusty memory
bank. At times information may be incorrect or slightly askew. I guess what
I'm trying to say is there are better ways to tell someone they might have
some bad information. Beating up on people has never been my idea of fun.
I'm sure there are many in here, including yours truly, who could project
their (and do) ill feelings about, say, changes in our business and "how it
done 'em wrong" and that's fine. A more caring, civil approach is what most
of us are looking for. I'll use Willie's system of delete when offensive. :)
Ok...now it's back into my adult sandbox.
Thanks for hearing me out.
Steve
