I love those things. My cell phone ringtone is from such a phone 
(sent to me by one of the list members). However, having lived 
through two major incidents in New York where C.O. power failed, they 
were no more reliable than a $9 Radio Shack special. Also, I 
understand that new fiber installations require a power supply at the 
location. Fiber doesn't seem to conduct electricity well.
