No need for Mr. closet-queen Manilow. Just pipe in Radio 227 from the
Netherlands: http://www.radio227.nl/

Listening to them is a surreal experience. Anything which fits into
their loosely-defined "Feel-Good Easy Listening" format gets played --
regardless of musical genre OR language. About 1/4th of their playlist
is dubbed from vinyl -- not because they enjoy the vintage sound, but
because it's stuff so obscure you can't even find it on CD anywhere.

Here's the direct link to their stereo 128 kbps MP3 audio stream, which
comes pretty close to "FM-quality":

The only problem with playing Radio 227 in a public area is that you'll
attract a different crowd of "hoons": old geezers hanging around just to
hear all the great music they can't hear on the radio anymore.

Anyway, as for Barry Manilow, one thing about him which is a definite
turn-off is the production of his songs. It's downright terrible. The
sound is so thin and echoey, it sounds like you're listening to a small
table radio placed at the end of a long hallway, even when you're right
in front of your speakers. No matter how you try to compress, expand,
or EQ it, you just can't "get close" to the sound of his records.
