Ron,
I did build a Linux-based router and used it for about a year. Loved
it! Unfortunately, it was the "Coyote Linux Router" which, at least at
the time, had to boot from a floppy. I knew the floppy drive would
eventually fail - and it did. I have the worst luck with floppies.
Not having time to deal with it, I just bought an "engineered" solution
- a Linksys RV042. It's been working fine, but Dana's comments made me
wonder if I'd eventually run into problems.
I'd rebuild the Linux router, but I'm also trying to reduce fan noise in
my office. I know there are solutions to that, but time and funds are
limited.
